The short answer

Globe Life’s exclusive agency divisions — American Income Life, Liberty National and Family Heritage — use independent contractors who sell only Globe Life products. When you leave, your license stays with you, your Globe Life appointment ends, and what happens to future commissions depends on your contract’s vesting terms. Independent agents can sell for many carriers; look for an agency that provides leads and puts your contract in writing.

What you keep and what stays

  • Your license is issued to you by your state. Michigan’s insurance regulator states plainly that cancelling an appointment doesn’t affect the license.
  • Your Globe Life appointment ends; new carriers appoint you through your new agency.
  • Future commissions depend on your contract — Globe Life’s filings describe agents’ commission streams reverting to the company when an agent is terminated.
  • Advance balances: Globe Life generally advances up to 65% of first-year commissions, repaid from commissions. Know your balance before you leave.
  • Clients: policies belong to the company; check any non-solicitation terms in your agreement.

A note for Family Heritage agents

Family Heritage focuses on supplemental health. Independent life agencies need your life line of authority — many supplemental-health agents already hold a combined life and health license, but check yours. The selling skills (business owners, needs analysis, benefit explanations) carry over well into final expense, term and whole life.

Coming to United Eagles from Globe Life

Leads are provided — you don’t buy your own. You work real prospects from your first week on the phones, so your money goes into your pocket, not a lead vendor’s. You’ll be contracted with dozens of carriers, trained on underwriting across all of them, and coached on recorded calls — with a contract level in writing before you sign. 1099 commission, uncapped, income never guaranteed, no fee to join.
